A quick recap but the story here is mostly in the videos and pictures. It was a spirited affair, filled with music and laughter. The evening started with a prayer offered by T.J. Huntley, the Pledge of Allegiance (led by grandchildren Garyan, Presley, Reece and Ethan), the Pledge to the Texas Flag (led by daughters Leslie and Kristy) and then a song by the grandchildren.
The emcee for the evening was Eduardo Lopez de Casas, Chairman of the Republican Hispanic National Assembly of Harris County. He did a great job of keeping the evening moving along and the dude can sing! He lead the group in a rousing rendition of God Bless America. He then introduced another singer, Lisa Drout. Ms. Drout performed three songs, including this rendition of the classic Christian hymn, Amazing Grace.

Next up, it was time for Elvis! That’s right, Elvis was in the house, as played by Lucy, The Female Elvis Impersonator. Elvis performed three songs, the first one being Jailhouse Rock. Watch those hips move.

After that, it was time to get down to business. First, Eduardo gave a nice endorsement, then he turned the microphone over to Jerry Don Woolsey, Mr. Story’s campaign manager. Mr. Woolsey gave a similar endorsement, both men concentrating on the character of Mr. Story.
Mr. Story then gave a (ahem, rather long) speech – here is a 10 minute clip of the beginning, complete with him singing a song.

He hit all of the campaign points that we’ve heard from Republicans all year. Obamacare, Cap and Trade, Bailouts, deficit spending, abortion, gay marriage, etc. You might remember Mr. Story from this controversial speech prayer at the Roy Morales election watch party. I’ll comment on that at some point but this isn’t the time. Unfortunately, the hour was growing late and I missed the tail-end of his remarks and the cutting of the cake, which, as you can see above, was some kind of cake!
