Bill Ratliff, State Representative Byron Cook, and former Commissioners of Education Dr. Shirley Neeley Richardson and Dr.

Scott Milder, a conservative Republican, has twenty years of experience as a businessman. Scott served two terms on the Rockwall City Council and co-founded a nonprofit organization supporting Texas education. He lives in Rockwall with his wife of twenty years, Leslie, and their children. The Milders are members of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall.

I’m not sure that rolling out endorsements from the moderate wing will work in the Republican primary, which has long been dominated by the most socially conservative voters in the party. But I suppose it’s worth a try. There is a Twitter hashtag called #blockvote where it appears that a lot of teachers are supporting Milder and other social moderates/fiscal conservatives but my guess is that many of those voting under that tag are voting in the Democratic primary. Here is an example of what you’ll find there:

All I remember about the day Dan threw his name in the hat and ALL of us got behind him was his promise to cap property tax at 3%, that was 14 years ago!!!!! Sorry Dan, my support goes elsewhere. You have IMHO become an opportunist that is simply climbing the ladder.
When he says “Securing more revenue is a complicated question but a worthy goal.” I think he means increase taxes.
Mt Pleasant’s Ratliff is the author of the Robin Hood school funding deal isn’t he? And the liberal from Corsicana Byron Cook endorsing local control? the guy would not allow local control for pensions in Houston as committee chair. Glad he quit. That’s a couple of East Texas piney woods rooters in the Milder camp.
