As you probably know, Mrs. Adams was elected by the SREC in October of 2009 to replace Tina Benkiser when Ms. Benkiser left to work on Gov. Perry’s re-election campaign. She is a well known social conservative, having led the Texas Eagle Forum for 16 years. She campaigned for tort reform in 2003 before campaigning against it.
Mr. Mechler hails from Amarillo and has run an aggressive campaign, charging that Mrs. Adams is running the state party with deficit financing and that her campaign manager is being paid by the state party while working on her campaign. He has a 10 point plan to overhaul the party in an attempt to remain relevant.
Mr. Munisteri hails from Houston and has an interesting bio. Lawyer, real estate investor, clean coal innovator, boxing manager, boxing color commentator – like I said, an interesting bio. I wonder though, if he can be elected with this line:
“Although I am a solid Conservative, I believe the Republican Party must do a better job at reaching beyond just its base to independent and minority voters without sacrificing its core beliefs. Most important to this effort, the Republican Party must do a much better job of reaching minority communities, especially the Hispanic community.”
Doesn’t bode well for him in regards to the Harris County vote. He probably should have looked at Ed Hubbard’s campaign, ditched that line, and joined up with some Facebook group like 50 Are Enough – We don’t need Puerto Rico as a 51st state! or Aggies Against In-state Tuition for Illegal Aliens. Mrs. Adams joined both groups in the last few days, so I’m thinking it would give Mr. Munisteri a little Facebook cred with socons.
The thing is, if you go to the forum provided by CLAR, you can ask the candidates directly whatever you want to! No need to wade through my snark, get it directly from the horses mouth, so to speak. Click here for a map and times.
