In this installment, candidate Eric Story tells voters what his top three issues are in his quest unseat Democratic Congressman Gene Green.
Increase Jobs and Spur the Economy
Increasing jobs for Americans, and bringing the U. S. economy back to a robust stable state, is not a simple task. Obama’s proposal, to spend the country out of this recession, was tried several times in the past, in many different countries. All met with the same result of failure. I feel the Obama plan will lead again to disaster. What will we have gained from an attempt to spend us out of recession? An increase in inflation, and billions of dollars added to an already out of control national debt.
Several bills will need to be passed through Congress to spur the economy and job growth. Time is not our friend, so Congress must act now to save the American people, and our failed economy. Below are my proposals:
Reduce income taxes for every American. Don’t just freeze taxes until the unemployment rate moves under 5{997ab4c1e65fa660c64e6dfea23d436a73c89d6254ad3ae72f887cf583448986}, but give permanent tax reductions. Allow our citizens to keep more of their hard earned money and spend it as they wish to benefit them and their families. John F. Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan both found when they cut income taxes revenues actually increased to the government.
Reduce corporate taxes, and offer corporations tax breaks for capitol expenditures to renovate existing factories, or build new facilities, and give tax breaks for a period of two years for every verifiable new job created or returned to the US from abroad.
Drill for domestic oil. Cease our energy dependence on foreign oil. Increase our energy independence by drilling for domestic oil, and drilling now. Open up the fields in Anwar, off the coast of California, and the Gulf Coast. Jobs will be created not only in the oil patch, but large increases will be generated in jobs of oil related industries, such as transportation and distribution, refining, manufacture of drill equipment, and all other related support services to these industries.
Give tax breaks to corporations, or individuals, developing alternative energy sources. Expand the use of wind, solar, and the ocean’s tides to produce economic green energy.
Decrease red tape hampering the speedy approval of Small Business Loans. Increase the availability of cash funds for the main street small business owners.
Enacting these few and simple laws will bring us out of this recession, not by Obama and Congress spending us out, but by creating and restoring jobs, and increasing the cash flow of our citizens. Do this, and watch, the American people will spend us out of this recession.
National Security
United States national security should be top priority for every citizen of our nation. Over the past few years, since 9/11, our government made vast strides in increasing national security, but much more needs to be accomplished. Within our world, we are faced with enemies dedicated to our total destruction. Republicans and Democrats, alike, must put aside their ideological differences to join forces in securing our nation in these times of great peril.
One problem needing immediate resolution is the division between the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding how much, or how little, security information should be shared with local law enforcement agencies. Our first responders, policemen and firemen, should never be deprived of security information that will enhance their vigilance toward terrorist activities. What is the thinking of our two highest law enforcement branches? Eliminate barriers of cooperation and sharing of information.
Intelligence gathering is our first and foremost line of defense. Adequately fund the United States intelligence community and provide them with the leading in tactical and human resources. So much rests in the hands of our security people. It has been said, “We must to be right 100{997ab4c1e65fa660c64e6dfea23d436a73c89d6254ad3ae72f887cf583448986} of the time, our enemy only once”.
Nuclear Arms: The growth of nuclear-armed countries unfriendly to the U.S. is of monumental concern to our national security. Never permit Iran and North Korea to develop a nuclear weapon, or the rocket capability for their delivery. Reduce existing nuclear stockpiles held by other nations to avert their transfer into the hands of terrorist organizations, or rouge nations. To prevent this occurrence the United States should work closely with our world allies on monitoring of nuclear development, and existing stockpiles.
At present, I am being advised by an expatriated Persian, and an Iranian student leader concerning the civil upheaval now occurring within Iran. I am not at liberty to divulge our conservations, but I strongly believe the United States must do everything possible to aid these Iranians in their pursuit of democracy.
Food and Water Supplies. Our food and water supplies are especially vulnerable to bioterrorism and our communication systems as well as energy grids to cyber-terrorism. A bioterrorist or cyber-terriorist attack could devastate our economy, shut down our transportation systems, wreck our energy systems, and place multitudes of American lives in danger. Prevention is through superior intelligence coupled with private industry. It also requires all Americans to be alert to, and report, suspicious activity.
Border Security and Immigration: These have been political hot potatoes during the past few years. The United States should develop a more streamlined policy to speed the legal entry of legal immigrants into the United States. All along our southern border millions of illegal aliens cross over each year. Interlaced within this human flow are terrorists, drug smugglers, and criminals. They have found our porous border a somewhat easy and inviting entrance into our country. These millions of undocumented individuals if allowed to illegally cross our borders and find refuge in the United States pose a threat to our nation’s sovereignty and security.
Fund and complete the border fence dividing Mexico from the U.S. Enforce existing laws governing illegals in the workplace. Deport illegals, jail criminal illegals, and punish employer’s hiring illegals. Place the E-Verify system into full operation to aid employers in their legal hiring of aliens. Punish to the full extent of the law those individuals stealing identities, or producing false documents for illegals. Abolish Sanctuary cities. Cities practicing this policy are promoting the breaking of laws and placing our citizens in danger. Illegal aliens should not receive driver’s license, social security, or other public benefits. Children born in the United States are not classified as natural born citizens unless they have one parent as a U. S. citizen. Adopt English as the official language of the United States.
Increase the monitoring of Ports of Entry to thwart importation of illegals, and hazardous materials. Strictly enforce airport security.
Political correctness has hampered the intelligence community. Those charged with national security are not allowed to profile for fear of prosecution. The murders at Fort Hood are a horrific example. Warning signs were noticed concerning the murderer, but not reported for fear those reporting his activities would be classified as racist. The murderer was an Islamic Extremist decent.
All actions taken by national security personnel must operate with the laws specified within the U.S. Constitution.
In the near future, I will travel to the Texas-Mexico border to accompany law enforcement officers patrolling the border region, and witness first hand the hardships they face in enforcing U.S. criminal, and immigration, laws.
Military: Provide funding to maintain our military as the finest, best equipped in the history of the world. Authorize pay increases for military personnel, especially those of lower enlisted ranks. It is a shame some of our military are compelled to enter welfare programs to provide for their families.
All of this must be accomplished while protecting every constitutional right guaranteed to our citizens.

Upholding the Constitution
I believe the men charged with writing the Constitution of the United States were divinely inspired. This document is not a living, breathing document. It is however, the Document that breathed life into a new nation, and has kept us strong for well over 200 years.
Over the past two centuries, the Constitution has proven it’s value many times over. Until recent years, with the help of activist judges bent on changing our way of life and restricting our freedoms, the Constitution remained strong and steadfast.
Liberals consider the Constitution to be a living, breathing document that can be changed at the whim of any liberal. This work that took many years to create speaks for itself. It does not need to be twisted and distorted, as many have over time, in order to change the meaning or original intent.
We MUST protect the integrity of our Founding Father’s and interpret the Constitution, based on the original intent, at ALL cost.
With this document, the U.S. exists and thrives. Once it has lost it’s power, we will fall.
For many years, our Constitution has been under attack. The creation of the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Department of Education, Government run Health Care, the takeover of our banking system, corporate bailouts, and even the EPA are unconstitutional moves that have long been used to erode our Constitution and eventually eliminate it.
I pledge to work hard to restore the strength and validity of the U.S. Constitution. The first action I would take is to introduce a bill re-affirming from a national level the strength and necessity of the 10th Amendment which afirmed States rights and limited the power of the Federal Government. Legislation of this nature would go a long way in restoring our Republic.
There is a constant attack by the liberals in DC on our 1st and 2nd Amendment rights. Nancy Pelosi has gone so far as to deny these rights to our elected Representatives. It is long past time to take action and restore our Nation to the vibrant, safe, secure, and FREE Nation intended by our Founding Fathers.
The continued destruction of this document and the freedoms it represents will result in the complete destruction of the Unites States of America. We must reverse the trend and we must do this now.
I am very thankful to the TEA Party and 9/12 organizations across the land. Working together with real Americans like these, we will have victory for America.
