If you take a look at the IRS-990’s for their “grassroots” organizations, you’ll find the same thing I found: being a spokesman for a non-profit advocacy group pays pretty darn well. Check it out:
And those figures don’t include all the free travel as the “educate” people around the country. Nor does it include income from other sources, such as book sales and personal speaking fees. All in all, not a bad gig if you can get one.
But don’t take my word for it, look it up yourself. I’ve done the hard work, compiling their 990’s for the last three years that are available online.
Rick Scarborough’s group, Vision America, is actually two groups, Vision America Action and Vision America Mobilization. I combined the two into one pdf document on Scribd:
Vision America Combined IRS990 2006 8
Interesting to note that Mr. Scarborough gets paid full time at VAM (40 hours/wk) and part-time at VAA (20 hours/wk). Busy dude.
David Barton’s group, Wallbuilders, is a family affair – his wife is the part-time secretary and his mother is on the board of directors.
It’s going to be very interesting over the next few years looking at the 990’s for the various Tea Party groups in the area. Know what I mean?
Oh, and to the emailer – no, I’m not a liberal. But I might be a RINO if your definition of Republican is one that these fellas agree with.
