Donald Trump advisor Stephen Miller was right to use the word “scam” in his defense of Hillary Clinton’s attacks on Mr. Trump and Trump University. Miller’s appearance on CNN paved the way for a deeper examination of suits filed against Hillary University aka Laureate Education. Disclosed in the documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission pertaining to a planned IPO of Laureate Education aka Hillary University is reference to a January 2015 lawsuit filed against Laureate Education & Walden University alleging violations of Maryland and California consumer protection laws.
Breitbart.com published a partial transcript and two-part video of Trump advisor Stephen Miller’s appearance on CNN’s “Situation Room” where Miller argued it is the Clintons’ who have participated in a for-profit scam:
Miller argued it is the Clintons who have participated in a for-profit education scam, saying, ”The only scam in education that I am aware of is the scam of Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton at Laureate University, where Bill Clinton was paid millions of dollars—where Secretary Clinton was funneling money to this university.”
Well, there’s another example of a scam allegation aka alleged violations of consumer protections laws against Laureate Education.
Page 53 of the Laureate Education disclosure document reveals the following:
In January 2015, two students filed suit against us and Walden University, seeking class action status and alleging claims for breach of contract and unjust enrichment and violations of the Maryland and Illinois consumer protection laws and California unfair competition law related to the students’ doctoral dissertation and master’s thesis processes. A third student joined as a plaintiff when the complaint was subsequently amended.

More than half of the complaints made to the BBB are listed in the Complaint Category Summary as “Advertising/ Sales Issues”. A closer look at the Laureate Education documents filed with the SEC reveal Laureate Education acquired Walden University in 2001.
