He is a very enthusiastic man, that’s for certain. His enthusiasm is infectious if the attendees at the meet and greet are any indication. There was a good mix of people from the community, including business people, Republican club members, and Clear Lake Tea Party board members. The meet and greet was funded by three local couples and was first class, with valet parking, open bar, and plenty of food. Not that I ate the food but I might have visited one of the, um, beverage displays. Might have even visited it twice.
On Iran, he stated that it is a foregone conclusion that they will get nuclear weapons, thus we need to focus on displays of strength to keep them from using their weapons. He didn’t seem to want to touch the North Korean issue, instead referring to depending upon the experts to give him the correct advice. Rather than “profiling” to combat terrorism, he would use “targeted identification” – if your name is Muhammed, you are going to be searched; if you are a five year old, you aren’t. His plan to stop illegal border crossing? High-powered laser beams. He laughed about that and said someone would leave the room and report it so there you go. It was a joke, get over it. He gave out DVD’s and booklets with his stands on eleven issues at the meeting but I have been unable to find them online.
His only foray into politics until now was a failed bid for Senate in Georgia in 2004. He stated that the main thing he learned from that race was that he needs to hire good people and then introduced Scott Toomey from his campaign staff. I found out a bit more about his staff on P2012:
