Texas State Rep. “Disgusted” With Proposed Budget Received $1.4 Million From Houston ISD

Texas State Representative Borris Miles, District 146, will “not stand by as the leadership of this state balances the budget on the backs of those that can least afford it”.

He must be referring to his own business, the Miles Insurance Agency.

According to Houston ISD’s online check register, the Miles Insurance Agency received $1,409,541 between March 31, 2009 and March 8, 2011.

Here’s the screen grab from the search:

Back in 2006, the Houston ISD Board of Education approved the purchase of flood insurance from the National Flood Insurance Program through the Borris Miles Insurance Agency, effective March 10, 2006.

Pages 97-99 of Houston ISD’s February 10, 2011 agenda reflect the approval of the purchase of flood insurance for the HISD Flood Insurance Program submitted by the Borris L. Miles Insurance Agency.

Borris Miles says he wants to “Save Texas Schools”.

Of course he does.

The “deepest cuts” are already falling on his insurance agency.
