The time has come for Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst to get the job done. No more whining, no more pointing fingers, no more excuses – just pass the abortion bill that passed the Texas House under Speaker Joe Straus. I think he realizes that his previous success as Lt. Gov. will be meaningless if he doesn’t get this job done. From his campaign this afternoon:
Dear David, As you well know, we conservatives are engaged in an epic struggle here in Austin to defend life and protect the health of Texas women. The abortion advocates from across Texas and beyond have loudly made their presence known in an attempt to intimidate lawmakers.Despite the angry tone of their attacks, I have a simple message for those who don’t agree with us, and it may surprise you: ‘we love you.’ As a man of faith, I value the lives of our opponents as much as the lives of the unborn. My efforts to pass House Bill 2 is driven in equal parts by my desire to protect the health of women and defend the unborn.
Do you value life? Join the chorus of pro-life warriors from across the state who have pledged to #Stand4Life. We’ll keep you informed on how you can help pass this bill and defend life.
When we stand for life, we stand for Texas women and their babies!
This morning, the Texas House made some major progress, passing the bill to set a 5-month limit on abortions while improving care for those women who cannot be swayed in their resolve to terminate a pregnancy. When that bill reaches the Senate, I will need your support in social media.
Please express your opinion to your senators in a dignified yet passionate manner to fortify them in the face of what may be another screaming mob. Join me on social media, follow me on Twitter and Facebook and use the hashtag #Stand4Life.
Together we’ll carry the day and send a strong message about the power of our conservative values.
Together, let’s #Stand4Life.
David Dewhurst
One of his opponents in next year’s primary for Lt. Gov., Sen. Dan Patrick, threw down the gauntlet this afternoon on his radio show. Sen. Patrick said that the bill should pass the Senate by Saturday at the latest, unless leadership fails again. I’m surprised that Dewhurst’s other opponents, Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson and Agricultural Commissioner Todd Staples, haven’t issued press releases yet saying the same thing.
Time to git-r-done, Dew. Failure is not an option for your future.
