Teaching a child the American way – 5 year old starts business

A while back, I went to a Houston Property Rights Association meeting in which the speaker was Carl Jarvis, an expert on the US Constitution. I enjoyed the speech and question/answer period, as did the packed house. And I’ve met Carl and his wife Jill, along with their very cute kids, on several occasions. So it shouldn’t have been a surprise when I saw this on Fox & Friends this morning:

But it was! A happy surprise! What a great idea and what a great way to instill the traditional way to success in America – work hard and be rewarded. Here is what Carl had to say in the interview, when the host asked him why this model instead of just letting Joe buy Legos with his allowance:

We didn’t want to get into a situation where he just felt like he was sort of entitled to the money.

And my wife happened to read about this idea a magazine and we thought it was a great idea to have him start a business and sort of Foster entrepreneurship and self reliance and all the other values that go along with that.

Awesome isn’t it. Fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance versus the current big government model of reliance on government. Little Joe is getting a great start in life.

Remember, his father’s website is: US Constitution.org.

And his mother Jill also runs a great website called BigKidSmallCity.com where you can find all kinds of fun stuff to do in Houston.
