Here is a look at the district:
Mr. Kubosh has made many friends in Republican circles over the past couple of years and would be a serious contender for the seat should he decide to run. He is a proficient fundraiser and certainly has the people skills it takes to run for office. And pretty thick skin too. Plus he’ll bring a lot of fun to the race and, should he win, he’ll be a real representative of the people. I have a call in to him and hope to grab a quote about his decision soon.
UPDATE: I did speak with Michael this afternoon. He confirmed that he was seriously considering running – so seriously that he had already filled out the paperwork and all he had left to do was sign, drive to Austin, and file. He was born in Wharton County and the family still has a farm there. He ran for Constable in Matagorda County in 1988 and was one of two Republicans that ran. Now the county is Republican. He has a lot of contacts in the district having lived in it most of his life. He mentioned that he wouldn’t have the $3 million that another person has said that they were willing to spend but that he’d beaten the red-light camera people and was out spent 17-1 in that battle. I asked him if he’d ever heard that milquetoast speak and told him that he had my personal guarantee that he’d be a better candidate on the trail. He didn’t want to comment on that. 😉 It ain’t all about money, folks, and Michael is good people. So, there you go. Rumor confirmed, although it really wasn’t a rumor – it was a source. A very, very good source!
