In this installment, candidate Frank Mazzapica tells voters what his top three issues are in his quest unseat Democratic Congressman Gene Green.
JOBS, JOBS, JOBS
The economy in the past two years has severely hurt the residents of CD 29. Many jobs have been lost and residents have even watched their life savings, 401s, etc. either dissipate or taken away through dubious handling. Also, the very threat of tremendous increases in taxes through potential Cap n Trade and Nationalize Health Care; it has seemed to scare off employers to produce their product or service with less employees.
So with that in mind, I propose a “Buy Houston” campaign in which we can market a City wide effort to encourage all of our businesses to not source outside of our city in order to keep the spending/purchasing strictly in Houston. This will increase employment opportunities, increase production, increase our City Revenue. Houston could employ Texas-born celebrities to help us campaign “Buy Houston”. On my website, I cite the top 100 Houston-based companies – this is a great start.
Fiscal Responsibility
I submit that the Federal Government should immediately put a freeze on spending – especially earmarks, pork-barrel, and so called bailouts and stimulus spending. Secondly, I submit that America should engage in a historic tax cut policy, especially for small businesses and individual taxpayers. Thirdly, the Feds must not tax capital gains, must not pass the Cap n Trade or a national health care. This will be too great a burden for our residence to tolerate.
This freeze on spending will directly effect the residents of CD 29. Their taxes will not only decrease, but Earned Income Credit will be more available. CD 29 residents will also be employed more abundantly due to the relief the tax breaks will give to big and small businesses – once again, especially not taxing capital gains.
Renewed Confidence in our Federal Leaders
Presently, there is very little confidence in the Congress/Senate, the President, his cabinet and his czars. The people of our district 29 and of this Nation have not just lost confidence, but there is a loss of morale, and the fear of loss of their freedom and liberty. This lack of confidence has affected investment, economy and employment in Houston.
There needs to be a serious stepping up of new leadership that will listen and act upon the voices of the American people. CD 29 residents have come out in throngs at tea parties, town meetings, marches, and a myriad of other organized groups, too numerous to list here, that have been literally screaming into the ears of our leaders; but to no avail. I propose we listen to the tea party folks as well as the towns people and act upon their demands.
This will renew confidence in our Federal government. Listen to the people and act on their demands; that’s why they are there. If they do not represent our demands – remove them for those that will.
