Bio provided by the Robin Riley campaign:
Robin Riley lives in Seabrook with his wife of 35 years, Gloria, and is the proud father of two sons and two young grandchildren. Both of Robin’s sons have earned Eagle Scout rank and serve or have served in the United States Military. A graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in mathematics, Robin worked at NASA’s Johnson Space Center for 19 years. As a contractor, he worked on developing the Space Shuttle, Mission Control software, and designing the Space Station Control Center that is still used today.
Robin currently works in the Oil and Gas industry – where he has spent a total of 19 years. In this capacity, he has worked in design drilling systems, state of the art directional drilling systems, and working in the field and off shore in the Gulf of Mexico rolling out a new pipeline system.
Robin served his community as Mayor of Seabrook, Texas for six years. During his tenure as mayor, Seabrook was able to embark on projects to build roads and enhance drainage, opened a new fire station and partnered with Harris County to open a library – all accomplished without raising taxes on the hard working families and individuals or businesses in his community. Mayor Riley also fought hard in the fight to preserve Ellington Field and to support NASA and the petrochemical industries that populate the region. Robin also served as a Seabrook City Councilman in the early 1990’s – helping create a municipal master plan that is still being used today.
Robin recently concluded a four-year term as Chairman of the Board of the Houston Ship Channel Security District, which is responsible for improving security of the Houston Ship Channel and over 200 of the nation’s most critical petro-chemical sites. They work with the Harris County Sheriff’s Department, US Coast Guard, FBI, US Customs, local Police Departments, and other agencies involved with combating terrorism, smuggling, and even hurricanes.
Robin and his wife Gloria are active members in their Church, St. Paul the Apostle. Together, they have taught Sunday school, sung in the choir and led a number of church related events.
