The claim by Houston Votes that they are a non-partisan voter registration group has been dubious from the beginning, as I and others have noted many times. When Leo Vasquez fired the shot heard round the world at them, they claimed foul! Well, why don't we step back and put a little more perspective on the entire operation. Fact is, Houston Votes is completely entangled with a local Che Guevara and Barack Obama supporter named Maria Isabel.
Okay, I guess first we need to remember this picture, first noted by Matt Bramanti at (RIP) Lonestartimes.com:

That is our little moonbat, Maria Isabel, sitting in the Houston office of the Barack Obama campaign. For a little more perspective on this moonbat, watch and listen:
Now, take a look at this photo from the Obamaleadership Flickr stream (don't blame me for the way Colombian is spelled):
Did you catch the Houston Votes sign semi-visible in the background, and the Houston Votes headband being worn by Maria Isabel in that photo?
Another photo from the Obamaleadership Flickr stream, this time showing a 2008 Obama campaign stand next to a Houston Votes voter registration stand:
Obama Leadership Team with Maria Isabel in front of Houston Votes sign, part of Obamaleadership Flickr stream:
Houston Votes tent staffed by and next to Houston for Obama activists, including Maria Isabel, from Isabel's personal "mybo16" Flickr photostream:
Perhaps my favorite, Maria signing up a Sheriff's Deputy to work for the Obama campaign in a Houston Votes tent:
Did you notice the Obama bumper-sticker semi-visible on the Houston Votes table (behind the cups of soda)?
Are you getting the idea that Houston Votes isn't exactly a "non-partisan" organization and that as more and more evidence comes out, it is obvious that Leo Vasquez is the hero of the day in Harris County? From what I hear, their activity has trickled to a slow drip and both the Secretary of State's office and the Harris County DA's office continue to investigate criminal charges against several people.
Hmm. I wonder what will happen if I scratch the surface just a little more - will there be a link to the Houston Community College System? You know, the "college" that apparently can't teach English or Journalism skills? Why, I think there just might be. Stay tuned.
Patterico also has something up on this and even uses two of my photos from last summers Sheila Jackson Lee townhall meeting when we outed the fake doctor. I don't get any link love or credit though. :-( Heh, when it rains, it pours. I was just joshing about the credit, I generally do not copyright my photos. Plus, now that (RIP) Lonestartimes is gone, there was no way to know.
UPDATE: Welcome Patterico readers!
UPDATE 2: I should have found this one earlier.
Once again, this photo of "Rebecca and Hernan" comes from the Obamaleadership Flickr stream:
Notice the HoustonVotes.org sign in the background. Notice that "Rebecca" is wearing a Houston Votes T-Shirt. Notice that she is also wearing a Houston Votes visor. Now look at her badge: HOLT = Houston Obama Leadership Team. These guys were blatant in their efforts to register votes for Obama. Non-partisan my arse.
